Abstract:
A liquid crystal display apparatus (100), comprising a first substrate (10) having a first electrode (11), a second substrate (20) having a second electrode (21), a liquid crystal layer (30), a first polarizer (40) and a second polarizer (50), wherein liquid crystals in the liquid crystal layer (30) are doped with a chiral agent; a liquid crystal pitch (P) is 8 to 60 micrometers; and an effective optical path difference (Δnd) of the liquid crystals is 300 to 550 nanometers. By means of adding a chiral agent to liquid crystals, the included angle (φ) between a trunk electrode (111) and a branch electrode (112) or the included angle (θ) between a polarization axis (Y) of the second polarizer (50) and the trunk electrode (111) is changed, such that the transmittance is maximized, thereby realizing high-transmittance display.
