Abstract:
The purpose of the present embodiment is to provide a liquid crystal display device manufacturing method which can generate a photo-alignment film that is provided with a portion having a high alignment control capability and a portion having a high adhesiveness. A liquid crystal display device manufacturing method according to the present embodiment is a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device including an alignment film to which an orientation control capability is imparted by a photo-alignment process, the method including: a first step for applying a varnish for a photo-alignment film to a substrate; a second step for heating the varnish for a photo-alignment film applied in the first step and forming the alignment film; and a third step for irradiating the alignment film with polarized ultraviolet rays to impart an alignment control capability, wherein in the third step, the irradiation amount of the polarized ultraviolet rays in a display region of the liquid crystal display device differs from that in a non-display region surrounding the display region.
