Abstract:
Provided is a liquid crystal display device having reduced backlight power consumption.
The liquid crystal display device is provided with a liquid crystal display panel,
a backlight, and a backlight adjusting section. A video signal of a certain channel
selected from a plurality of channels of television broadcast or a video signal
outputted from an external device is inputted to the liquid crystal display panel.
The backlight projects light toward the liquid crystal panel. The backlight
adjusting section turns off the backlight for a prescribed period of time when
the selected channel is switched and/or the input to the liquid crystal display
panel is switched between the television broadcast and the external device.
