Abstract:
The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device in which, even if a liquid crystal panel is made to have a narrowed frame, an excellent voltage holding ratio is maintained over a long period of time, and burn in and spot formation on the display screen is inhibited. This liquid crystal display device is provided with an active matrix-type liquid crystal panel and a backlight. The liquid crystal panel is provided with: a liquid crystal layer; a pair of substrates which sandwich the liquid crystal layer; alignment films respectively provided to the liquid crystal layer-side surfaces of the pair of substrates; and a seal part which bonds the pair of substrates to each other, and which is provided to the periphery of the liquid crystal layer. The liquid crystal panel is formed using a liquid crystal dropping method. The liquid crystal layer includes a liquid crystal material, and a radical scavenger and/or an antioxidant. The width of at least a portion the seal part is not more than 0.6 mm.
