Title:
LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2000/063746
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to devices for displaying information, more precisely to liquid crystal displays, and may be used in indication display systems for various purposes as well as in optical modulators, light-modulation matrix systems, etc. The LCD of the present invention includes two parallel plates with electrodes and polarisers, wherein said plates are connected along their periphery in order to form a cavity filled with a liquid crystal and the connection between the plates can be released. This invention is essentially characterised in that the connection of the plates is carried out using pre-manufactured fixation members previously formed on the plates, whereby said members are not submitted to deformation during the assembly process, do not change positions on the plates, do not move, do not break and do not have any damaging action on the display members during the bonding process. This invention is also characterised in that the fixation members also serve as limiters for a given thickness of the liquid crystal layer which is determined before assembling the display, unlike known analogous products.
