Abstract:
Disclosed are a liquid crystal mixture and a temperature-responsive infrared reflection device which is prepared by using a liquid crystal mixture containing potassium laurate, wherein infrared light can pass through the device within a non-working temperature range, and a chiral dopant can form the potassium laurate into a cholesteric phase within a working temperature range; and the potassium laurate has a bi-refringence value that gradually increases along with the increase of temperature between 12.5ºC-26ºC, thereby constantly increasing the infrared reflection bandwidth of the device, and the potassium laurate has a bi-refringence value that gradually decreases along with the increase of temperature between 26ºC-54.5ºC, thereby constantly decreasing the infrared reflection bandwidth of the device. Thus, by means of the adjustment of material proportions of a liquid crystal mixture containing potassium laurate, the infrared reflection bandwidth of the infrared reflection device can vary with temperature, thereby meeting people's needs as the environment changes, and the device can be applied in fields such as homes and buildings.
