Title:
LIQUID CRYSTALLINE COMPOUND HAVING NEGATIVE DIELECTRIC ANISOTROPY, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL COMPOSITION AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT EACH COMPRISING SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2010/095493
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed is a liquid crystalline compound which has general physical properties required for a liquid crystalline compound, i.e., stability toward heat, light and others, a small viscosity, a proper refractive index anisotropy value, a proper dielectric anisotropy value and steep electrooptical properties, can provide a nematic phase in a wide temperature range, and has excellent compatibility with other liquid crystalline compounds, particularly a liquid crystalline compound which can provide a nematic phase in a wide temperature range. Specifically disclosed is a compound represented by formula (1). For example, R1 and R2 independently represent an alkyl group having 1 to 9 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group having 2 to 9 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, or an alkenyloxy group having 2 to 8 carbon atoms; Q1 and Q4 independently represent a fluorine atom or a chlorine atom; Q2 and Q3 independently represent a hydrogen atom, a fluorine atom or a chlorine atom, wherein one of Q2 and Q3 inevitably represents a hydrogen atom; Z represents -CH2O- or -COO-; and h represents 1 or 2.
