This liquid discharge head (8) is provided with: a discharge unit (26) which includes a nozzle (163), a pressurization chamber (162) and a pressurization unit (170); and dummy units (26a, 26b) which include a dummy pressurization chamber (162a) and a dummy pressurization unit (170a). The liquid discharge head (8) comprises a discharge region (24) where multiple discharge units (26) are arranged in one row, and a dummy region (25) where one or more dummy units (26a, 26b) are arranged adjacent to the discharge region (24), on the extension line of the rows of the discharge units (26). The discharge region (24) includes a center region (26c) which is positioned in the center of the row, and an edge region (26d) which is positioned at the edge of the row, adjacent to the dummy region (25). The edge region (26d) is the region where, when the dummy units (26a, 26b) are not driven, dots discharged on the basis of the same drive signal and formed on the recording medium are greater in size than those discharged by the discharge units (26) in the center region (26c). In the liquid discharge head (8), a drive signal is supplied to the dummy units (26a, 26b) while the drive signal is being supplied to the discharge units (26) in the edge region (26d).
