Abstract:
A liquid treatment apparatus provided with a container in which a liquid to be treated is stored, and an ultraviolet irradiation device which is mounted in the container and irradiates the liquid to be treated in the container with ultraviolet rays, wherein the ultraviolet irradiation device is configured from an ultraviolet irradiation unit and a circuit unit, the ultraviolet irradiation unit comprises an electrodeless ultraviolet discharge tube provided with a tube body in which a discharge medium containing mercury or a mercury alloy and a noble gas is sealed, and an induction coil which generates ultraviolet rays by discharging electricity by the action of a high-frequency magnetic field on the discharge medium, and the circuit unit comprises a lighting circuit which passes a high-frequency current through the induction coil, and a control circuit which controls the lighting circuit such that the high-frequency current is passed intermittently. Consequently, it becomes possible to achieve power saving, an appropriate ultraviolet irradiation amount, and a longer life while avoiding unnecessary ultraviolet irradiation.
