Abstract:
This lithium ion battery E is provided with a positive electrode terminal 1, a negative electrode terminal 2 and a battery case 3 that is an airtight container; and an electrode body 10 is contained within the battery case 3. The electrode body 10 comprises a positive electrode collector 11, an electrode plate 12 for positive electrodes, a negative electrode collector 13 and an electrode plate 14 for negative electrodes, while having a structure wherein the electrode plate 12 for positive electrodes and the electrode plate 14 for negative electrodes are laminated with a separator 15 being interposed therebetween. A metal ion removal agent is arranged in a void space within the battery case 3. This metal ion removal agent has a transfer metal ion adsorption capacity, and preferably has a moisture removal ability; and it is preferable that this metal ion removal agent is composed of a zeolite, especially an A-zeolite ion-exchanged by Ca. This lithium ion battery is capable of capturing transition metal ions released from a positive electrode active material, thereby having improved battery life characteristics.
