One aspect of the present disclosure relates to a lithium primary battery which is provided with a battery case, an electrode group and a nonaqueous electrolyte, and which is configured such that: the nonaqueous electrolyte contains a nonaqueous solvent, a solute and an additive; the electrode group comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator that is interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode; the negative electrode comprises a foil of lithium metal or a lithium alloy, while having a shape that has a long-side direction and a short-side direction; a long tape is bonded to at least one main surface of the negative electrode in the long-side direction; the tape comprises a resin base material and an adhesive layer; the tape has a width of from 0.5 mm to 3 mm (inclusive); the additive is a lithium salt that is represented by formula (1) LixMCyOzFα (wherein 1 ≤ x ≤ 2, 0 ≤ y ≤ 6, 0 ≤ z ≤ 8, 0 ≤ α ≤ 6, 1 ≤ (y + z + α), and y and z are not 0 at the same time); and the element M comprises at least one of phosphorus and boron. The present disclosure is able to provide a lithium primary battery which is capable of maintaining the function of the negative electrode collector even at the final stage of discharge.
