The embodiments of the present application provide a load balancing method, an AP, and a machine readable storage medium, said method comprising: acquiring load values of other APs that provide the same wireless service as that provided by the AP; determining whether the load value of the AP is greater than all acquired load values; if so, when there is a difference, which is greater than a first preset threshold, among the differences between the load value of the AP and various acquired load values, the AP not being an edge AP, executing a preset load policy for reducing the terminal access probability; and otherwise, when there is a difference, which is greater than a second preset threshold, among the differences between the various acquired load values greater than the load value of the AP and the load value of the AP, executing a preset load policy for improving the terminal access probability. The embodiments of the present application can achieve load balancing between various APs in a network environment not including an AC.
