Description:
Description

The lock ior closing of hand luggages

Technical Fiebl

The invention relates to the loch ior closing oi hand luggages as bags, Buit-caεeB etc.

Background Art

So iar known locks ior cloεing oi hand luggages one can divide into key mechanical lockε and code locks.

Key mechanical locks have a similar construction to door locks however in a emailer version.

A neceεεarity oi keys and a riεk oi their loεε related to it mean a disadvantage oi theεe locks. Except oi that the keys are oi small dimensions, adjustment at the lock has to be very -proper and manipulation oi that is very diiiicult. The code locks can be divided into numerical ones with optional combination oi the opening code and locks with manually adjusted code combination.

The code locks with manually adjusted combination are opened by plastic cards with slots. In iact it means a passage between key and code locks. Their disadvantage is neceεεarity oi use oi supplementary part, it means a plastic card, which means a danger oi loss again.

The keys with an optional combination oi opening code are usually controlled by three or iour small wheels and by each oi them it iε possible to adjust a number irom zerro to nine. From the user's point oi view the Betting oi wheels in a liit to the whole lock is perpendicular or parallel. Adjustment oi the code combinan iσn is possible only in position when the code ior opening oi lock is adjusted on the lock with a help oi a small opening lever or a special lever on inner side oi the lock. By a pressure toward the

opening lever in the opposite direction then the opening direction is, or by resetting oi the inner support lever, one can adjust new numeric combination.

The wheels are usually very small and require great. accuracy when adjusting. Manipulation with them, especially in aggravated atmospheric conditions as in ireeze etc. , is very diiiicult.

Disclosure oi Invention

Higher mentioned disadvantages are removed by a lock ior closing oi hand luggages consisting oi bath and a buckle iitting in with it, the principle oi which iε based on the iact, that the bath is equipped with a side hole ior a buckle latch and socket on the opposite side. The buckle consists oi at least three keys equipped with pins on the bottom Bide, movably set in a basic deεk while there is a movable code desk situated under them which is equipped with an operating edges on its upper side, iinished by a latch. Under this deεk there iε a bottom deεk εituated, which iε set on the iirεt elastic element, located on the bath bottom and joint with basic desk by a joint, part, which iε inεerted into the bath socket. Ends oi pins are bevelled on the reverBe side irom side hole oi the bath, while each operating edge oi the code desk iε situated against bevelling oi one oi pins, it means the iirst one in order, and the rest oi operating edges is gradually - according the order N oi pins, determined by code - moved towards the corresponding pins to the latch N-l times oi the distance, which is shorter than diameter oi the pin, thereiαre the operating edge corresponding to the second pin iε in a standstill position oi the code deεk moved towards bevelling oi the pin one times oi the distance which the code desk passes when corrective key iε pressed. The code deεk is on the opposite side to the latch equipped with a second elastic element.. Under the key pins the code deεk

iε with an advantage provided with tranεversal grooves or point holes.

The lock oi the above deεcribed construction is very simple. Even in a case oi small number oi keys it creates a suiiicient number oi combinationε. Thankε to the iact, that the keyε are not oiiicially numbered or marked somehow else, the test oi even smaller number oi combinations with using ior example iive keyε with the aim oi overcoming oi the lock, iε quite complicated task. The lock is eaεy controllable, so that eaεy ior use, where often opening of luggage iε expected.

Description oi preferred Embodiment

The lock according iig.l and 2 consists oi a bath A. fixed in a body of luggage and buckle 2. joined with its cover. The bath _____ is equipped with a side hole 4. for a latch _ and with a socket J7 on the opposite side for inserting of joint part 13. of buckle 2.- The buckle 2 consists of a baεic desk £., a bottom desk __________ joint with that by joint part J_§. and between them movably βet code desk 3. ~ on one side finished by a latch 5_ and on the opposite side equipped with εecond elaεtic element 12.. The basic deβk £ iε covered by five keyε ft with pins 7, which are passage through this basic deεk ≤., with points in a standstill position and situated above the code desk 3_. Under the bottom desk H. there is a first elaεtic element 1_£ fixed to the bottom oi bath 1.

From the iig.l one oi poεεible iixing oi the pin 7. at the key £. is visible as well. The pin 7 is movably located in a cavity oi the key . and Becured against releasing by a transversal trunnion . iixed in the walls oi cavity. Between the upper end oi pin 2 and a top oi cavity there is the third elastic element 1. inserted. Between a bottom suri ce oi key and the basic desk 8. there is the iourth element 16. inserted. An option oi movement oi pin 7 in a cavity oi key 6 together with third and iourth elastic element A_5, Ifi. insures, that it iε impossible to notice a diiierence between pressing oi a correct moving key and

the wrong blocking key £., whether its εolidity or its position towards the baεic desk 2 iε conεidered. Aε another oi poεsible versions the key £. with a pin 1_ are created aε one part without the third elastic element ≥.. Against releasing the keyε £ are insured with a transversal trunnion 2 from the bottom side of basic desk £.

The code desk 2. in one of possible versions is shown on fig.3. In a code deβk £ socketε 1_Q corresponding with the number of pins are created. On the bottom of desk, in theβe sockets lϋ those are transversal grooves created by its whole length 14 or point εockets, which are according by codes determined position of operating edge created in front Si, in front of and behind or only behind operating edge 19. In the same moment. the bottom of socket iε lower in front of the edges J2., so as the trunnion of pin ] "_, bevelling of which has moved the code desk ____., would not touch the bottom of εocket 12. and would not break or block another movement of the code desk 2- According the lock code set by producent there are operating edges 12. created at sockets 12, in proper distances from corresponding pins 2., on which bevelled edges of pins 7 press and so move the code deβk 2 when pressing the keyε f>. in a correct order. Operation bevelling of corresponding pin 7 iε always situated on the opposite εide to the side hole 4 of the bath 1. Traneverεal groove 14 βerve for blocking of code desk 2 when pressing keyε in a wrong order.

Figures 4A to 4E εhow how the lock operates. Each figure 4 shows real position of individual pins 7 towards corresponding operating edges 1 . Distance a. represents the movement oi the code desk by pressing oi one oi the key £. On iig.5 and 6 the code desk iε shown in another version. The code deεk 2 is located under pins, again in distances εet by producent and equipped with operating edges 1 * with transversal grooves 14 in their surroundingε and with a lowered bottom in front oi operating edgeε 19.

On the iig. 7 and 8 more simple version oi the code

desk 2 iε presented, where pins Z even when pressing keyε in a wrong order do not reach the code deεk 2 with itε pointε. When pressing a wrong key £>., blocking oi the code deεk cannot occur. The code desk iε equipped as well as preceding operating versions by necessary operating edges 12- The opposite extreme case oi thiB version seemε to be passage holes in a code desk 2 for pins 2 made in iront oi operating edges 12- Points oi the pins can be made in a ehape oi cut cylinder, semicone, cone etc. Ii the lock is closed, joint part 1.2 oi the buckle 2. iε inserted into socket 2 oi bath and the lock iε inεured againεt opening by a split f> which iε inserted into hole _____ made in the opposite wall oi the bath 1. By the code deεk 2 reβp. by operating edges 12 on itε suriace, the stable code is deiined determining an order in which the keys £ have to be pressed. In this position only one oi pins 2 is located with its bevelling above one oi operating edges 12 oi the code desk 2 on which it adhere when being pressed. By presεing oi the key £ the bevelled part oi the pin 2 presεeε on corresponding operating edge 12 oi the code desk 2 and so moves the deεk at the distance smaller than the pin's 2 diameter and at the distance it draws up buckle 5_ irom a side hole ' By thiB movement oi the code desk 2 t-he second competent operating edge 1 becomes adjusted under bevelled part oi the second pin 2- Thanks to the iact, that the code desk 2 is permanently pressed by the second elastic element. 1 against described moving, the iirst key 6, has to be hold aε far aε the second key & is not pressed. In the opposite case after releasing of the first key 6_ through the βecond elastic element, the code desk 2 would return to the standstill, locked position and the pin 7 i the order oi the second key 6 would not iind corresponding operating edge 12 and opening oi the key would be blocked. By i ilowing oi described procedure complete release oi latch £>. irom the side hole _ oi bath occurs and the lock is open. Tnankε to the iirst elastic element ϋ, which removes the body oi

buckle irom the bottom oi bath 1, aiter pressing oi the last key ϋ, the buckle 2 is pulled out irom the bath _i_.

In a case oi incorrect sequence oi presses on key £., point oi pin 2 oi the iirst inncorrectly pressed key £> fits into the transversal groove 14 eventually to one oi point sockets created in straight line under individual pins 2 and will not allow a movement oi the deεk even in a case oi following pressing oi the correct key £.

The code desk can be created even for multiple pressing of the same key £., by which a number of possible combination increases. One key £ however cannot be pressed twice or more times in a row, but alwyas after pressing of another key £.

The first up to the the fourth elastic element 1_2, 13, ϋ and lϋ, can consist of a spring or a rubber layer, or another elastic material. In practice a soft material has proved for the third elastic element and a solid spring ior the fourth elastic element fe. This combination insures, that all keys £ have the same resistance, no matter whether they are preεβed in correct or incorrect order.
