Abstract:
In a comparison output unit, the frequency difference between a frequency of a frequency division signal from a variable integer frequency divider of a frequency synthesizer and the frequency of a reference signal to the frequency synthesizer is compared to an allowed frequency difference range, which is the range of the frequency difference that is allowed. When the frequency difference is within the allowed frequency difference range, the comparison output unit outputs a locked state signal communicating that the frequency synthesizer is in the locked state. A control unit: monitors the frequency division value set for the variable integer frequency divider, detects control-enacted periods, which are periods over which the frequency difference falls outside the allowed frequency difference range due to the frequency division value set for the variable integer frequency divider; and, during the control-enacted periods outputs a locked state signal to the comparison output unit, even in cases when the frequency difference has fallen outside the allowed frequency difference range.
