WIPO Patent Application WO/2002/036911
Kind Code:
A2
Abstract:
The lock includes the frame, the deadbolt placed in it, the cylindrical secrecy mechanism, which barrel is made as a shaft with the handles immovably mounted to it, and has a possibility freely rotate around its axis in locked and unlocked positions. The barrel may interact with the pin only during locking or unlocking of the lock.

Description:
LOCK TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to Locks.

The lock is known comprising the frame, the deadbolt placed in it, cylindrical secrecy mechanism, which includes the barrel with the core placed in it, the handle unmovable mounted on the one end of the barrel and in its turn mounted to the frame with help of spring-loaded pin, the element intended for deadbolt driving unmovable mounted on the core (Patent of Russian FedrationNo 1500009 E 0580 27/04 15.11.1993).

The fault of this lock is in following. Besides the core releasing from the barrel the key used also for deadbolt driving in its required position with help of drive element fastened on the core. For this reason the key is often failed when the deadbolt moves non-fluently in its leading elements as well as when the leading elements are not in proper position relatively to holes at the door box or when the key is long, because the secrecy mechanism and key's enter are on the opposite sides of the door.

The lock cannot be locked with a key from inside.

Another lock is also known which has handles attached to their frames which can be rotated to a certain position. The cylindrical secrecy mechanism, which connects the handle with the frame, is placed immovably in the handle. The disadvantage of the aforementioned lock is that the handles are fixed to the frame in the closed position of the lock, which allows breaking of the element that connects the handle with the frame by applying great twisting power, open the lock by rotating the handle, or, in case the connecting element fails to break, the frame rotates with the handle, opening the door. For example the great twisting force may be applied with a piece of pipe or pipe wrench (Patent of USA No 5.934.117 Aug 10.1999 60R 25/02).

SUMMURY OF THE INVENTION The invention aims at increasing the locking reliability, shortening of the key's length and improving operational features. The cylindrical secrecy mechanism, which connects the handle with the frame, is immovably placed in the handle. The disadvantage of the mentioned lock is that the handles are immovably jointed with the frame, which allows to act on the handle with great power.

The proposed objective is met in the following way. The barrel is performed as a shaft witl unmovable mounted handles on its ends. The barrel may freely rotate around its axis in the locked and unlocked positions of the lock. A hole perpendicular to the axis is made at the centra part of the barrel where in the cross direction the pin is placed having the possibility to move And the drive element intended for deadbolt driving rotatably placed on the central part of the barrel and may interact with the pin only during locking or unlocking of the lock.

The cross-section of the lock is shown in Fig. 1 and the section A-A of Fig. 1 is shown in Fig. 2.

The lock includes the frame 1 that mounted to the door, the deadbolt 2 placed in the frame and made as a bar with corresponding cutouts, spring-loaded element 3 for deadbolt fixation, the cylindrical mechanism comprising the barrel 4 performed as a shaft on the central part of which the perpendicular hole 5 is made, the pin 6 placed in the hole 5 having the possibility to move in cross direction, the element 7 intended for deadbolt driving that rotatably mounted to the central part of barrel 4 and have circular protrusion 8 and cutout 9 made on the inner surface of the hole.

On the ends of the barrel 4 the handles 10 and 11 are immovably mounted, while the cores 12,13 are placed in the barrel's opposite sides of the pin. The lock also includes the key 14, the disc 15 which orientates the barrel, and which is coaxial to barrel and mounted to it in rotation's direction, and the spring-loaded element 16 intended for disc's fixation.

The lock works in the following way. For locking or unlocking the Lock, the key 16 is placed in core 12 through the hole of handle 10. By turning the key 14 releases the core from barrel 4 and rotates it on half circle. In this term the core 12 by its eccentric end replaces the pin 6 into the hole 5 of barrel 4 inserting the end of pin 6 into the groove 9 made on the inner surface of the hole on the drive element 7. After it, by turning the handle 10 the drive element 7 intended for deadbolt driving is also rotated with barrel 4. The circular protrusion 8 of drive element 7 lifts the spring-loaded fixative element 3 releasing the deadbolt 2 from fixation and displacing it to required locked or unlocked positions. After turning the key to its previous position in relation to handle 10 and its removing the core 12 rotates in the previous position together with its eccentric end. This allows the pin to move to previous position by means of its inclined ends. It takes place by turning the barrel 4 by one of the handles 10,11.

The lock is locked or unlocked by inserting the key 14 into the core 13 through the hole in the handle 11. By turning the handle 4 the position of barrel 4 is defined and installed in relation

to drive element 7 with help of disc 15 and spring-loaded fixative element 16 when it i ; necessary to lock or unlock the lock.

The performance of barrel 4 as a shaft for unmovable mounted handles 10,11, the free rotation of handles and barrel around their axis in the locked and unlocked position of the lock replacing of deadbolt 2 by handles when locking or unlocking, the opposite mounting of the cores in the barrel increase the locking reliability, improve the operational features.
