Abstract:
A multi-plate lockup device, wherein the placement of the piston and the oil chamber is designed to reduce the size in the axial direction. This lockup device is provided with a clutch (24) and a damper mechanism (25). The clutch (24) has a clutch input member (26), a clutch output member (27), a drive plate (28), a driven plate (29), a second flange (37), and a piston (30). The second flange (37) is furnished between a front cover (2) and the inside circumferential part of a turbine (4), so as to be immovable in the axial direction with respect to the front cover (2), and forms an oil chamber for lockup. The piston (30) is furnished between the front cover (2) and the second flange (37), and forms a lockup oil chamber (46) between the piston and the second flange (37). The piston is moved towards the front cover (2) side by hydraulic fluid supplied to the lockup oil chamber (46).
