Abstract:
Provided is a structure for a long-arc type discharge lamp having an arc tube and first and second bases disposed on both end portions of the arc tube, with which the lamp can be easily and reliably attached to and detached from a lamp holder, longitudinal and rotational positions of the lamp can be secured in predetermined directions, and the lamp can be prevented from falling in the direction of gravity. A recess is formed on a side surface of both bases, and the recess consists of a horizontal recess part which extends in the axial direction of the tube and opens at the upper end thereof to the upper end surface of the base and a vertical recess part which extends in a direction perpendicular to an end portion of the horizontal recess part and opens downward at the lower end thereof. The lamp holder for holding the bases is provided with engagement protrusions for engaging with the recesses.
