Abstract:
Provided is a long-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin preform that is easily manufactured and contains glass fibers having good strength and a good modulus of elasticity. Also provided is a long-fiber-reinforced resin compact having good strength and a good modulus of elasticity. This long-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin preform includes a glass fiber bundle as a long-fiber bundle, which is obtained by cutting, to a predetermined length, a glass fiber bundle having a thermoplastic resin impregnated therein and held on the periphery of the glass fiber bundle. The glass fiber bundle is obtained by bundling glass fibers. The glass fibers have a composition wherein, relative to the total amount, there is 57.0 to 63.0 mass% of SiO2, 19.0 to 23.0 mass% of Al2O3, 10.0 to 15.0 mass% of MgO, and 5.5 to 11.0 mass% of CaO. The ratio of MgO/CaO is 0.8 to 2.0.
