Abstract:
Provided is a long glass fiber manufacturing method which uses recycled glass fibers and with which it is possible to increase the recycling rate, suppress an increase in the liquid phase temperature of molten glass, suppress narrowing of the operation temperature range of the molten glass, and manufacture long glass fibers having a low spinning temperature. This long glass fiber manufacturing method comprises: a glass melting step for obtaining molten glass by melting a glass raw material including a glass fiber mineral material and glass fibers recycled from glass fiber reinforced resin molded articles; and a spinning step for spinning this molten glass to make long glass fibers. The contained amount of the recycled glass fibers in the glass raw material is 11-75 mass%. The differences in the contained ratios of SiO2, Al2O3, B2O3, and CaO between the glass fiber mineral material and the recycled glass fibers satisfy predetermined relationships.
