Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a loom and a method for controlling the same, with which a sudden drop of a heald frame is suppressed. [Solution] A loom according to an embodiment comprises a heald frame, a drive unit for moving the heald frame up and down, a power supply circuit for supplying electric power to the drive unit, switch circuits which are connected between a plurality of wires that transmit electric power from the power supply circuit to the drive unit, and which short-circuit or open the plurality of wires in accordance with control signals, and a control circuit which supplies the control signals to the switch circuits to control the switch circuits, wherein, after the supply of electric power from the power supply circuit to the drive unit has been interrupted, each switch circuit maintains the short-circuit or open state based on the last control signal that was received before the power supply was interrupted.
