Abstract:
A lubricant for magnetic recording media, which contains an ionic liquid having an anion component and a cation component, and wherein: the anion component has a fluorine-containing chain having a number average molecular weight of 1,500 or less; the cation component is a cation of a cyclic amidine; and the cation of a cyclic amidine has a fluorine-containing chain that is a perfluoroalkyl chain or a perfluoropolyether chain.
