Abstract:
Provided is a lubricating oil composition that, while having a low viscosity in order to increase fuel efficiency, has superior wear prevention characteristics, seize prevention characteristics, and the like, takes into consideration long service life characteristics, and has superior characteristics of preventing wear, seizing, and furthermore shattering that result from the elution of compounds from a sheet member after oxidation degradation and as a result of long-term use. The lubricating oil composition is characterized by having a kinetic viscosity at 40°C of no greater than 30 mm2/s, and by having, in the lubricating oil base oil with respect to the entire quantity of the composition, (A) 100-500 mass ppm of a boron-containing ashless dispersant with respect to the amount of boron, (B) 300-800 mass ppm of a phosphorus-based additive with respect to the amount of phosphorus, (C) 1-4 mass% of an amide-based and/or an imide-based friction modifier, and (D) 100-300 mass ppm of an alkali metal and/or alkaline earth metal detergent with respect to the metal.
