The present invention relates to a substrate of a luminous face-plate of a colour projection cathode ray tube and the luminous face-plate which is composed of this substrate. Said substrate consists of transparent polycrystalline material, said luminous face-plate comprises a transparent polycrystal substrate and a luminous layer which is formed thereon. Said substrate is characteristic of high mechanical strength, low production cost, high heat conduction and good corrosion-resistant. The luminous face-plate which uses the substrate of the invention has an advantage over the prior art in the volume of a product, used power, manufacturing cost, resolution and so on, thus, is widely used in the field of colour projection TV, advertisement display and so on.
