Abstract:
A method of roasting in which both the C content and S content of roasted ore can be
lowered to 0.5% or below and in which an Mo yield of 90% or higher can be ensured. For
recovery of the valuable metals of V, Mo and Ni by reducing of a V, Mo and Ni-containing matter
with the use of a reducing agent, in advance, a V, Mo and Ni-containing matter with
C and S contents is subjected to oxidation roasting by means of rotary kiln (7)
to thereby remove the C and S contents. Burner (11) is disposed on raw material charging
side (8a) of roasting furnace (8) on which the V, Mo and Ni-containing matter with
C and S contents as a raw material is charged, and within the roasting furnace (8),
the direction of raw material transfer is arranged so as to be parallel to the flow
of oxygen-containing gas introduced in the roasting furnace (8).
