Abstract:
A machine room-less elevator, comprising first and second hoist ropes (7a) and (7b) of two systems having one ends fixed to the right and left sides of a car at positions nearly symmetrical with respect to the gravity center of the car in the horizontal plane of the car and the other ends fixed to a balance weight. The car (2) moving up and down along guide rails (4) and the balance weight (3) moving up and down in the opposite direction of the car along the right or left side-surface or the rear surface of the car are driven by a hoist (11) installed at the top of a hoistway. One of the first and second hoist ropes is driven by the hoist.
