Abstract:
Provided is technology for preventing attachment of coolant on a discharge inhibited portion. Provided is a machine tool capable of machining a workpiece. The machine tool comprises: a first discharge unit which discharges coolant for removing chips of the workpiece; a portion which is inside the machine tool and on which the coolant is not to be discharged; a first drive unit which moves at least one of the first discharge unit and the portion to change a relative position between the first discharge unit and the portion; and a control unit which controls the machine tool. The control unit executes processing for recognizing the position, in the machine tool, of the first discharge unit and/or the portionof moved by the first drive unit, and processing for controlling, on the basis of the position recognized in said recognition processing, the discharge of the coolant by the first discharge unit such that the coolant is not discharged on the portion.
