Abstract:

Disclosed is a machine tool comprising: a cutting tool that performs cut-processing on a workpiece; a rotating means that rotates the cutting tool and the workpiece relative to one another; a feeding means that subjects the cutting tool and the workpiece to a feeding operation in a predetermined processing-feed direction; and a vibration means that reciprocatingly vibrates the cutting tool and the workpiece relative to one another. By the relative rotation between the workpiece and the cutting tool and the feeding operation accompanied by the reciprocating vibration, in the processing-feed direction, of the cutting tool relative to the workpiece, the machine tool performs cut-processing by moving the cutting tool relative to the workpiece continuously along a plurality of predetermined movement paths in which the respective processing-feed directions are different from one another. The machine tool comprises a vibration restriction means that, at the time the movement of the cutting tool changes from one movement path, of two of said movement paths continuous with one another, to the other movement path, restricts the reciprocating vibration for a predetermined period from the movement start position of the movement path, and starts the reciprocating vibration after the lapse of said predetermined period.
