Abstract:
The present invention is a machine tool (1) having two chucks (3) that grip respective workpieces (W), a rotation-driving device (6) that causes the chucks (3) to relatively rotate, a movement-driving device (9) that causes the chucks (3) to move, and a joining means that controls the rotation-driving device (6) and the movement-driving device (9) so that the workpieces (W) are brought into contact with each other using a prescribed pressing force and in a prescribed rotation state to join the workpieces (W), wherein the machine tool (1) is characterized in that: there are provided a contact means that controls the rotation-driving device (6) and the movement-driving device (9) so that the workpieces (W) are brought into contact with each other in a state in which separation is possible, a sensor that detects the contact state of the workpices (W) as brought about by the contact means, and a database (13) that stores joining conditions for the joining means; and the joining means joins the workpieces (W), on the basis of detection information from the sensor, in accordance with joining conditions that correspond to the detection information from the sensor as extracted from the database (13).
