Abstract:

Disclosed is a macromolecular water-treatment membrane that exhibits good mechanical strength, chemical resistance, and water permeability, and is also resistant to fouling. Also disclosed are a method for manufacturing a macromolecular water-treatment membrane comprising a vinyl chloride copolymer containing vinyl chloride monomer and vinyl alcohol constituent units, and a macromolecular water-treatment membrane comprising a vinyl chloride copolymer containing vinyl chloride monomer and hydrophilic monomer constituent units. A vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer is formed into a membrane and then the vinyl acetate units in said copolymer are converted to vinyl alcohol units via hydrolysis.
