Abstract:
This Mg alloy is constituted of, by mass%, AL: 4 to 6% and Ca: 0.2 to 0.8%, and Mg and impurities as the balance. Particularly, when Al: X% and Ca: Y%, preferably 5.5 < X + 5Y < 9 is satisfied. Moreover, the alloy preferably contains Mn: 0.05 to 1%. The Mg alloy has a relatively small Al content and high ductility, and includes a small amount of Ca which contributes to molten metal flame resistance and improvement of Mg alloy strength. Thus, in spite of containing few types and small amounts of alloy elements, the Mg alloy realizes excellent fire resistance and mechanical properties that are well-balanced, and therefore makes low-cost production possible of a high-quality cast, for example.
