Abstract:
Disclosed is a current sensor that can be miniaturized and has high sensitivity. The disclosed magnetic balance current sensor is provided with: a magnetoresistive element (141), the resistance of which changes due to application of an induced magnetic field from the current to be measured; a magnetic core (13) disposed in the vicinity of the magnetoresistive element (141); a feedback coil (12) that is disposed in the vicinity of the magnetoresistive element (141) and generates a cancelling magnetic field that cancels out the aforementioned induced magnetic field; and a magnetic field detection bridge circuit (14) provided with two outputs that produce a voltage difference corresponding to the induced magnetic field. The current to be measured is measured on the basis of a current that is running through the feedback coil (12) when, due to the aforementioned voltage difference, the feedback coil (12) is energized and a balanced state is reached wherein the induced magnetic field and the cancelling magnetic field cancel. The magnetic balance current sensor is characterized in that the feedback coil (12), the magnetic core (13), and the magnetic field detection bridge circuit (14) are formed on the same substrate.
