Abstract:
There are provided a magnetic bearing device and a magnetic bearing method capable of saving energy by eliminating bias current for linearization of the relationship between the magnetic force and the excitation current of an electromagnet. The magnetic bearing device supports a floating rotor (1) as a magnetic body at a predetermined position by a magnetic force of electromagnets (2, 3) in such a manner that the rotor (1) can rotate. The electromagnets (2, 3) oppose each other to sandwich the rotor (1). A driver (204) is of the PWM (pulse width modulation) type for controlling the excitation current of the electromagnets (2, 3) by modulating the pulse width of voltage driven by a predetermined carrier frequency fc. The driver (204) includes a resonant circuit electrically resonating with a frequency equivalent to the carrier frequency fc. When excitation current is fed to one of the electromagnets (2, 3) arranged to oppose each other, control is performed to make the excitation current of the other electromagnet is DC zero and voltage is applied via the resonant circuit to the electromagnet whose excitation current is DC zero.
