Abstract:
A magnetic head adapted to effect high-density magnetic recording and reproduction. A first core (1) has a saturation magnetic flux density which is different from a saturation magnetic flux density of a second core (6), i.e., the second core (6) has a saturation magnetic flux density smaller than that of the first core (1). Or, a material having a small saturation magnetic flux density is used for a portion of the second core (17) facing a gap (4), or the gap (4) is formed obliquely to the direction of depth thereof such that the first core (1) and the second core (26) will have different sectional areas at the ends facing the gap (4). Thus, the second core (6), (17) or (26) is saturated in the portion near the gap (4) faster than the first core (1), making it possible to obtain an optimum effective gap length at the time of recording and reproduction.
