Abstract:
This magnetic recording medium is provided with: a flexible elongated substrate; a first layer that is provided on the substrate, contains Cr, Ni, and Fe, and has a face-centered cubic lattice structure having a (111) plane preferentially oriented so as to be parallel to the surface of the substrate; a second layer that is provided on the first layer, contains Co and O, has a ratio of the average atomic concentration of O to the average atomic concentration of Co of 1 or more, and has a column structure with an average particle diameter of 3 nm or more and 13 nm or less; a third layer that is provided on the second layer and contains Ru; and a vertical recording layer that is provided on the third layer.
