Abstract:
This malfunction location detection device is provided with a variable speed level monitoring means (10c) for monitoring the current variable speed level of a stepped automatic transmission, a malfunction-sensing means (10d) for sensing the occurrence of a malfunction and the form of the malfunction from vehicle behavior that occurs in accordance with the malfunction, a combination of frictional engaging elements reconfigured when the variable speed level is switched upon the sensing of a malfunction occurrence due to the switching of the variable speed level, and a malfunction location limiting means (10e) for limiting the frictional engaging elements with which the malfunction occurs on the basis of the form of the malfunction. It is thereby possible to quickly specify a limp home variable speed level during travel to transition to the limp home variable speed level, and to ensure that the driver is not subjected to a substantial amount of stress.
