Abstract:
Disclosed is a propulsion aid device connected to a manual wheelchair so as to provide driving force thereto. By using a self-energizing effect, the propulsion aid device provides sufficient driving force and brake force even while using a motor. The propulsion aid device may be easily connected to a manual wheelchair without the need for a motion of bending the human body over. The self-energizing effect is provided by means of a mechanical method, and the device has a simple structure, and thus the risk of the device breaking down is low. At an economical price, the propulsion aid device may enhance the self-esteem of seniors and persons with disabilities as members of society and may enable the more safe and active social activities thereof.
