The manufacturing method for an automotive body including an automotive crash energy absorption component 1 according to the present invention comprises a component manufacturing step S1 of manufacturing the automotive crash energy absorption component 1, and an automotive body assembly step S3 of attaching the automotive crash energy absorption component 1 to assemble the automotive body, wherein the component manufacturing step S1 includes a pre-coating component manufacturing step S1-1 of manufacturing a pre-coating component 2 including a tubular member 3 formed from a hat cross-section member and a coating film formation member 5 which is made of a material lower in strength than the tubular member 3, and is arranged, with a gap 11 of 0.2 mm-3 mm, over an outer surface of a portion including corner portions 7c of the tubular member 3 and a coating film forming step S1-2 of forming a coating film 13 in the gap 11 through electrodeposition coating.
