Abstract:
In this manufacturing method for a diol represented by general formula (1), when the diol represented by general formula (1) is manufactured by carrying out a cyclodehydration reaction between a 1,4-cyclohexanediol derivative represented by general formula (2) and a triol represented by general formula (3), the method includes carrying out the reaction using water as a solvent. In general formula (1), R1 and R2 each independently represents a hydrocarbon group, and R3 each independently represents a hydrogen atom, a hetero atom-containing group, a halogen atom-containing group, a C1-6 straight chain alkyl group, a C3-6 branched alkyl group, or an aryl group-containing C6-12 group.
