The purpose of the present invention is to provide a map data structure, map data creation method, and vehicle-mounted information terminal device that can improve efficiency of data access and reduce the amount of data. This map data structure is a structure for map data that is included in meshes for a plurality of hierarchical layers and is characterized by prescribed map data that is common map data for both map data in a mesh for a prescribed hierarchical layer and map data in a mesh that corresponds to the mesh for the prescribed hierarchical layer and is in a lower hierarchical layer than this prescribed hierarchical layer being included in the mesh for the prescribed hierarchical layer so as to not duplicate in the mesh for the prescribed hierarchical layer and the mesh for the lower hierarchical layer, and the common map data in the meshes for the plurality of hierarchical layers being managed as a single data set.
