Abstract:
Map information is recorded which includes an area map file, version management information for the area map file, and mesh management information, and the map information is updated per area map file. The area map file stores the map information for a mesh which includes an arbitrary area, and includes an offset to the map information set for each mesh. The map information for a mesh that includes a plurality of arbitrary areas is stored in all the area map files which correspond to an arbitrary area included in the mesh. The mesh management information has a mesh management record which is provided to correspond with the mesh; and the mesh management record holds the assigned area identification information which identifies the area map file which includes said mesh.
