Abstract:
The present invention relates to a marker for determining the spiciness of a pepper pericarp. When a molecular marker of the present invention for determining the spiciness of a pepper pericarp is used, information can be provided for overcoming difficulties resulting from interspecific crossing and limitations, due to placenta volume restrictions, in breeding high capsaicin-containing varieties, and thus the present invention can be effectively used in fields involved in breeding novel high capsaicin-containing pepper varieties, which are receiving attention because of the anticancer actions and dieting effects thereof.
