Title:
MASSAGER FOR SELF-MASSAGE (AUTO-MASSAGER)
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2000/057832
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The massager for self-massage is described, which makes possible to perform smooth self-massage, with a possibility to massage various parts of body with a chosen pressure and depth of massage, giving maximum of pleasure during the massage treatment. It could be achieved by applying the massager which consists of vertical stationary carrier (1) affixed on the vertical support, slide assembly (2) and horizontal carrier (5) with differently shaped parts for massage treatment (3). Both slide assembly (2) and horizontal carrier (5) could be set on the height chosen along the recess (4), which is made on vertical stationary carrier (1), by tightening-up the nut (6) and tightening element (7). It enables, along the full height of body, the massage treatment of all its parts.

Description:
MASSAGER FOR SELF-MASSAGE (AUTO-MASSAGER) Field of invention The subject of patent belongs to the field of everyday life needs.

Accordingly, it is in the subclass-methods of massage. According to the International Patent Classification (IPC), the subject of invention should be assigned with classification symbols A61H 7/00 or A61 H 15/00, respectively.

Technical problem The massage treatment is a process involving two sides: the active one (masseur of device by which massage is performed) and passive one (person which underwent massage treatment). The massage process is mainly based on the principe that direction of the massage force is directed from the active side to the passive one i. e. the active side generates force needed to perform the massage. Applying this method of massage, the person who underwent massage treatment has a limited possibility to determine force and massage area.

Moreover, under some circumstances, such a possibility is even completely excluded. The professional masseur, as well as any massage device, has no information regarding feelings of the person who underwent massage treatment.

Therefore, there is a need to construct a massager for self-massage which enables massage of all parts of the body, in such a way that massaged person can determine both the massage area and intensity of massage pressure.

On the basis of above mentioned facts, the technical problem which can be solved by this invention is directed to the following: how to give an opportunity to the massaged person do determine time and intensity of massage treatment, and how to locate potential areas for massage treatment. The subject patent- massager for self-massage-is a solution for this problem which relies on the reverse method of massage: active side is person who underwent massage treatment, while passive side is the stationary device for self-massage. The subject patent is stationary vertical carrier having, at various heights, attached part with exchangeable body for massage treatment.

State of the art One known example of the massager is Swiss patent No. CH 632156A : rollers for massage treatment are in the middle of steel bar, inside wavy rubber surface. In this case the method of massage is also reduced to self-massage, but

if one compares the above mentioned patent No. CH 632156A with the patent in subject, it follows that subject invention simply attains body pressure on the contact surface of massager and, as a consequence, all parts of the body could be easier massaged. There is also the massager for back of body registered under patent No. US 5,577,996. Main part of the massager is a bar equipped at both ends with two handles: between them is a number of spheres intended to perform the massage treatment. The inherent drawback of this massager is fact that this massager is manual device. Therefore, it is relatively hard to apply higher pressure on certain areas the user wish to intensively massage. Different methods of massage treatment, connected with greater number of spheres, are described in US patents No. 4169466 and 5090402, and WO patent No. 9114417 A1.

There is a vast difference between the subject invention and those above mentioned because the massager in subject has one vertical stationery carrier with a recess, which is designed for attachment of horizontal carrier which receives exchangeable contact part for massage treatment. If one apply this embodiment of massager it is possible to perform, at different heights, massage treatment of all parts of body. A wide range of pressures could be locally applied on massage area, depending exclusively on pressure force by which masseur acts on part for massage treatment. In this way, a significantly higher pressure as well as better overall control of the process of massage could be attained, compared to any other kind of massager.

Description fo the patent with examples of embodiment The massager for self-massage, as shown in the pictures enclose, has foru main parts, as follows: vertical stationary carrier (1), sliding part assembly (2) and horizontal carrier (5) with various attached pieces for massage (3). All these parts, as an assembly, make possible to perform an easy massage treatment of the person with possibilities to massage various parts of body, with different pressures and different depth of massage, achieving maximum of pleasure during the massage treatment.

The massager for self-massage is shown in the pictures enclose, as follows: Picture 1 is perspective view on the massager for self-massage, as an example of setting on the wall,

Picture 2 is side view on slide horizontal carrier assembly with slider, horizontal carrier and attached part for massage treatment, Picture 3 is top view on slide horizontal carrier assembly with slider, horizontal carrier and attached part for massage treatment, Picture 4 shows attached part for massage treatment, in the shape of spehre, Picture 5 shows attached part for massage treatment, in the shape fo mushroom, Picture 6 shows attached part for massage treatment, in the shape of brush.

As seen in the picture 1, the stationary vertical carrier (1) has to be affixed to the vertical massive support (e. g. wall) by means of bolts arranged alongside the carrier. The recess is made along the full length of stationary vertical carrier (1) with built-in limiting members in order to prevent an accidental disassembling of slide element (2).

The assembly made form slide element (2) and horizontal carrier (5) is set into the recess (4) from the upper side of stationary vertical carrier (1). Slide element assembly (2) is affixed to the vertical carrier (1) by means of tightening element (7); the latter being tightened-up with the nut (6) which is essential part of the whole assembly, made from slide element (2) and horizontal carrier (5).

The horizontal carrier (5), at both ends, has threaded rod with threads being equal to those made on the slide element (2) and attached part for the massage treatment (3), respectively. The attached part for the massage treatment (3) could be made in the shape of various bodies having smooth and round surface, as the spherical ones intended for deep massage treatment of smaller muscle groups, or mushroom-like bodies intended for massage treatment through the spread contact area. In addition, attachements made in the shape of brush could be used as attachments for massage tratment (3), or vibrating assembly could be used, together with special heating devices inside the body.

In the next embodiment of the stationary vertical carrier (1), inside the recess (4) and along its full length, a number of equally spaced bores were made in such a way that horizontal carrier (5) with atatched part for massage treatment (3) could be affixed through, thus making use of slide element (2) with additional fixing elements-unnecessary.

As previously noted, vertical carrier (5) could be affixed to the slider (2) or stationary vertical carrier (1) by the tightened joint using threads on its end.

However, there is a possibility to make vertical carrier (5) in the form of"bayonet".

The one has to put through the appropriate bore on the slider (2) or, in the case of embodiment without slider, through the one of many bores inside recess (4) on stationary vertical carrier (1). Just in the same way, by using the"bayonet" embodiment of vertical carrier, various parts for massage treatment (3) could be put on and affixed at the end of horizontal carrier (5). These parts must have appropriate bores, too. Such realization of system fixing remarkably facilitate the procedure of exchanging parts for massage treatment (3), or horizontal carrier (5).

The massage tretment has to be performed in the following way: assembly made from slide element (2) and horizontal carrier (5) together with attached part for massage treatment (3), is set at some height position into the recess (4) on the stationary vertical carrier (1). After that, the tightening element (7) was tightened- up means of nut (6). In the case of embodiment without slide element, the horizontal carrier (5) has to be affixed at some height through the bore inside the recess (4), and afterwards part for performint the massage treatment (3) has to be affixed at the end of horizontal carrier (5).

Therefore, the person perform the massage by resting on certain part for

massage treatment (3), while pressure of the body with chosen intensity gives desired massage effect.
