Abstract:
Provided is a mat (1) that can facilitate breathing in a supine position. A back supporting section (3) of the mat (1) comprises: a pair of serratus posterior superior counterparts (19) positioned below a part corresponding to at least a portion midway between the origin and insertion of each of the pair of left and right serratus posterior superior muscles of a supine person; a pair of scapula supporting sections (20) that support a part corresponding to the pair of left and right scapulae of a supine person; and a sixth thoracic vertebra counterpart (23) located below a part of the back of a supine person that corresponds to a portion of the spine with two or more consecutive thoracic vertebrae including at least the sixth thoracic vertebra. The serratus posterior superior counterparts (19) and the scapula supporting sections (20) are configured such that the body pressure from the serratus posterior superior counterparts (19) is lower than the body pressure from the scapula supporting sections (20). The sixth thoracic vertebra counterpart (23) is configured such that the body pressure from the sixth thoracic vertebra counterpart (23) is lower than the body pressure from the spine-supporting portion of the back supporting section (3) other than the sixth thoracic vertebra counterpart (23).
