Title:
MAXIMUM LIKELIHOOD DECODING ALGORITHM FOR TAIL-BITING CONVOLUTIONAL CODE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2018/171110
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A maximum likelihood decoding algorithm for a tail-biting convolutional code, said algorithm comprising the following steps: (A) executing a Viterbi algorithm (VA) on a backward surrounding grid; obtaining information retained from a previous backward Viterbi algorithm (VA); (B) applying a priority search algorithm to a forward direction of all sub-grids. The advantageous effects are: an effective early stop standard is used, in order to reduce decoding complexity; a simulation of a (2,1,6) tail-biting convolutional code in an additive white Gaussian noise channel exhibits significant savings exceeding BEAST and CMLDA in terms of decoding complexity maximum value and variance.
