Abstract:
The present invention is a measurement device for measuring planar relative movement between a tool attachment section and a workpiece attachment section of a machine tool, wherein the measurement device comprises at least one imaging element capable of imaging at a first location, a second location, and a third location that are not on the same straight line. None of the first location, the second location, and the third location is on any straight line that passes through the other two. A first point, a second point, and a third point are arranged in at least one plane out of an XY-plane, an XZ-plane, and a YZ-plane, and are each imaged by imaging elements at the first location, the second location, and the third location. The first point is imaged by the imaging element at the second location and the imaging element at the third location. The second point is imaged by the imaging element at the first location and the imaging element at the third location. The third point is imaged by the imaging element at the first location and the imaging element at the second location. A value indicative of planar relative motion of the tool attachment section and the workpiece attachment section is calculated on the basis of imaging results.
