Abstract:
Provided is a mechanical seal with which it is possible to easily achieve a positional securing operation and attachment to a fluid device. The mechanical seal has: a rotation-side member 2, which is provided with a sliding end surface 2s and a cylindrical part 2b secured to a rotating shaft 10 of a fluid device, and which rotates together with the rotating shaft 10; and a secured-side member 3, which is provided with a seal case 6 secured to a housing 9 of the fluid device, a stationary ring 4 having a sliding end surface 3s that slides against the sliding end surface 2s of the rotation-side member 2, and an urging means 5 which is held in the seal case 6 and which urges the stationary ring 4 to be able to move in the axial direction of the rotating shaft. The seal case 6 is provided with an inner peripheral part 6b extending along the rotating shaft 10, and due to the rotation-side member 2 and the seal case 6 approaching one another in the axial direction, an engaging part 6d of the inner peripheral part 6b engages a part to be engaged 2q of the cylindrical part 2b while undergoing elastic deformation in a diameter-expanding direction, and the rotation-side member 2 and the seal case 6 are positionally secured to one another, the engaged state being released by the rotation-side member 2 and the seal case 6 being brought yet closer together in the axial direction.
