Abstract:
Provided is a mechanical structural part in which strain after an induction heat treatment is reliably reduced to eliminate the problem of eccentricity in parts having a large aspect ratio, particularly parts having an axially shaped portion. This mechanical structural part has a component composition comprising C: 0.45 to 0.51%, Si: 0.15 to 0.35%, Mn: 0.60 to 0.90%, P: 0.030% or less, S: 0.025% or less, Al: 0.040 to 0.059%, Cr: 0.10 to 0.50%, and N: 0.0060 to 0.0100%, the remainder being Fe and impurities, and includes a hardened layer obtained by induction quenching/tempering treatment, wherein the area ratio of crystal grains in which the diameter of prior austenite grains in the hardened layer is less than or equal to 80 μm is greater than or equal to 80%, and the proportion of the number of grains having a grain size greater than or equal to twice the grain size mode in the hardened layer is less than or equal to 5%.
