Abstract:
Provided is a medallion discrimination device for the purpose of discriminating the authenticity of a medallion used in a game machine such as a slot machine, wherein a reduction over time in the precision with which medallions are discriminated can be prevented, and the authenticity of various types of medallions can be discriminated appropriately. This medallion discrimination device, which is for discriminating the authenticity of a medallion used in a game machine, is equipped with a noncontact sensor (4), the signal level of the output signal of which fluctuates due to the passing of a medallion, and a control unit (92), to which the sensor (4) is connected. When the peak value or the bottom value of the signal level of the output signal from the sensor (4) is within an authenticity determination range defined by means of a specified upper limit threshold value and lower limit threshold value, the control unit (29) determines that the medallion is an authentic medallion. The authenticity determination range used by the control unit (28) to determine authenticity can be changed.
