The present invention reduces the diameter of a needle tip of a staple while providing space for protecting the needle tip from outside. This medical stapler system 1 includes a medical stapler 2 and a staple 7 for closure of tissue A. The medical stapler 2 includes: a first gripping member 3 and second gripping member 4 having a longitudinal axis and capable of gripping the tissue A therebetween in a closed state; a holder 6 that holds the staple 7; a housing portion 10 that houses the holder 6 with a needle 7a of the staple 7 being protruded from a first contact surface 3a of the first gripping member 3; and a drive mechanism 5 that slides the holder 6 along the longitudinal axis. The medical stapler system 1 also includes: a recess 11 on a second contact surface 4a of the second gripping member 4, the second contact surface 4a being for holding the tissue A against the first contact surface 3a, the recess 11 being capable of housing the needle 7a without the needle 7a passing through the recess 11 and without the needle 7a being deformed when the holder 6 is disposed on one end in the longitudinal direction and the first gripping member 3 and the second gripping member 4 are in the closed state; and an anvil portion 8 that deforms the needle 7a when the holder 6 is disposed on the other end in the longitudinal direction and the first gripping member 3 and the second gripping member 4 are in the closed state.
