Abstract:
The present invention appropriately detects the end of a colored medium. A cutting apparatus 1 comprises a light-emitting unit 10, a light reception sensor 14 for receiving light from the light-emitting unit 10 at a position facing the light-emitting unit 10, a platen 2 for supporting a colored medium S between the light-emitting unit 10 and the light reception sensor 14, and a paper end detection mechanism 21 for detecting the end of the colored medium S on the platen 2. The light reception sensor 14 is movable. As a result of the degree of light reception of the light reception sensor 14 with respect to light from the light-emitting unit 10 changing with the movement of the light reception sensor 14, the paper end detection mechanism 21 detects the end of the colored medium S in the direction of movement of the light reception sensor 14.
